Andrew Wild Comments on the Civil Procedure Rule Committee's Draft Rules for the Extension of Fixed Recoverable Costs

Andrew Wild, Head of Legal at First4InjuryClaims, comments on the Civil Procedure Rule Committee publishing the minutes for its recent meeting which includes draft rules for the FRC extension.

“It is welcomed that the government has released the draft rules that will govern Fixed Recoverable Costs (FRC) from October, although final ministerial sign off is still awaited. However, we are now under 6 months to implementation, and the market still awaits further detail and clarification on several uncertainties contained within the draft papers to enable law firms to be able to fully plan accordingly for the future. The primary consideration must be how this will affect the consumer and, in my view, it would be far better to delay these reforms for this consideration to be undertaken rather than rush them through and risk eroding access to justice even further.”
