First4Lawyers Continues Its Growth

Our First4Lawyers family continues to grow, and we are delighted to welcome legal sector specialist Ian Adams as our new director of sales.

Ian, who was previously associate director of partnerships at National Accident Helpline, will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our business development function. He has also worked in BD for Premier Medical and Minster Law.

Another face you will all recognise, Nick Delaney, has been appointed as the group’s first chief commercial officer. Formerly director of BD, Nick will continue to manage his own key accounts whilst also focussing on maximising commercial opportunities.

Announcing the appointments, which have so far featured in Solicitors Journal and Legal Futures plus local media, group managing director Qamar Anwar said their combined experience and expertise would be “invaluable as we continue to strengthen our position in existing markets and explore new opportunities.”

Nick Delaney recently met with Julie Grayston of Graystons Solicitors to add our support to their ‘Do No Harm’ campaign.

The campaign hopes to persuade the new Labour government to reconsider the planned introduction of fixed recoverable costs to clinical negligence cases with a value of under £25,000. It is feared that such a move could mean many vulnerable victims will be denied the specialist advice they need as it will no longer be financially viable for many lawyers to take their cases on.

Announced this time last year and originally due to be implemented in April, it now looks unlikely that anything will happen before 2025 so for campaigners there is everything to play for.

As it approaches its third anniversary, First4InjuryClaims continues to go from strength to strength, with 2,750 cases settled to date and £7.5 million recovered in compensation for injured claimants.

The team, which has also seen several promotions as well as the first colleague enrolling to start studying towards the CILEX qualification, is also settling cases going through the Official Injury Claim portal an impressive 150 days faster than the market average.

Our director of marketing, Andy Cullwick, continues to share his insights in monthly articles for Insurance Claims, including a look at how newsjacking could help boost your brand and why authenticity should be at the heart of your marketing. Andy has also been commissioned to write a series of articles for The Professionals, the second of which was published this month on why law firms should be picking up the phone.

After the traditionally quiet summer period, we’re looking forward to getting back out on the road. If you’re attending the PI Futures Conference – which this year takes place on 19 September at the Pendulum Hotel in Manchester – please drop by our exhibition stand for a chat and a goodie bag! We will also be exhibiting at the Claims Futures Conference, back at the same venue on 12 November.
